More Than Money: Stewarding All of Life
More often than not, when we think of good stewardship, we think of how we manage our finances — our faithfulness in paying tithes and offerings. But stewardship is much bigger than that.
Every Area of Life
It is more than just the management of our time, our possessions, our environment, or our health. Stewardship is our obedient witness to God's sovereignty. It is what motivates a follower of Christ to move into action — doing deeds that manifest belief in Him.
Paul's own stewardship involved proclaiming the gospel truth that had been entrusted to him. Ours might look like:
- Managing money with honesty and generosity
- Guarding our time instead of wasting it
- Caring for our physical health as something entrusted to us
- Stewarding relationships, words, and influence well
One Integrated Life
None of these areas exist in a vacuum. A person who is careless with money is often careless with time. A person who is faithful in small things tends to be faithful in large ones (Luke 16:10). Stewardship is not a single category of life — it is the lens through which we view all of life.
